Alice studied Drama at the University of Winchester, and has always been interested in the performance side of theatre. Whilst at Winchester Alice was a member of a successful theatre company, of which she was a founding member. It was during her time at University that Alice’s interest in community theatre began, using drama in the context of a residential home for the elderly and a school for pupils with severe learning difficulties. These experiences ignited her passion for using drama as a tool to both teach and empower people. Alice undertook her PGCE at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where she will officially graduate from in December 2009
Alice has recently moved from South London to Wiltshire to start her career at John Bentley.
Teacher of Music - Peter Grant
Peter studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and pursued a career as a freelance opera singer for 8 years working with most of the major UK opera companies before undertaking a PGCE in music at the University of Greenwich in 2006. He started working at John Bentley School in 2007.
He is married to Michelle who also teaches at John Bentley and they live in Calne. When not involved with music Peter has an unhealthy devotion to the Heart of Midlothian Football Club and manages to just about maintain his single figure golf handicap!
Head of Performing Arts - Blayne Cooper
Blayne studied Drama and Education at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and University of Wales Institute, Cardiff graduating in 1998. Although acting was a prospect, Blayne quickly realised that teaching was far more rewarding. Married in 1999, to Clare, they both soon settled in Wiltshire and since 2000 Blayne has been developing the Performing Arts here at John Bentley School. He has seen it come a long way since then and the accolade of 'Artsmark Gold' status this year is a testament to the departments hard work.
Blayne also works for Edexcel as a visiting examiner for A-Level Drama and writes for the magazine 'Teaching Drama' published by Rhinegold.
When not 'living' at Bentley Blayne prefers the quiet village life with his three children Tayte, Kiah and Thalia along with the family menagerie of pets!
